In last few years, medium voltage power electronics has become important in applications like grid integration of utility-scale renewable sources like solar, fuel-cell and wind etc.  State-of-the-art system uses bulky, expensive line frequency transformer and inefficient power conversion process. One of the major challenges in this area is the replacement of the line frequency transformer with medium voltage and medium frequency transformer that improves system power density and reduces the cost. Currently we are looking into medium frequency link solutions, with a focus on reduction in power loss and improvement in reliability.
